About Dish Network
Dish Network is a provider that offers home satellite
systems which receive digital satellite tv and digital audio signals
through the use of a mini dish. Dish Network is owned by Echostar.
Dish Network History
The Dish Network satellite systems were officially
launched in March of 1996. The main competition for Dish Network in
the United States was DIRECTV. In it's
earlliest days the Dish Network systems used an 18-inch satellite dish
known as the Dish 300. These home systems let viewers have the ability
to receive a signal from a single satellite location.
These days the Dish Network systems use a 20-inch
satellite dish that goes by the moniker of the Dish 500. With the Dish
500 viewers can receive their satellite tv signals from two satellite
locations in unison. The newest innovation is the "SuperDish".
This satellite dish is a little bit bigger at 36"×20". Going one step
further, it has the ability to receive satellite signals from three
satellite locations simultaneously. The SuperDish and Dish 500 are becoming
ever more popular.
Dish Network Innovations
Dish Network began providing in-flight satellite
tv service to the United States airline named Song in the year 2003.
In the year 2004 the Dish Network started another innovative idea by
including selected music channels from the audio pack of the Sirius
Satellite Radio Network.
Dish Network is by far the most popular and fastest
growing provider of home satellite systems. Their overwhelming popularity
has been accomplished by broadcasting their digital quality audio and
video signals straight to the mini dishes located on the homes of millions
of Americans.
